Everyone deserves an Opportunity
Think about the person who gave you your first opportunity. The person who first believed in you. The person who encouraged you and made your dreams possible. When you donate to Opportunity International, you give this kind of opportunity to a woman working her way out of poverty. She uses her loan to grow her business, provide for her family and hire her neighbors — improving the whole community. You make her opportunity possible.

When given an opportunity, a teacher can stand in front of her students in a brand new classroom.
Mary Florence was working as a primary school teacher when her husband passed away from AIDS. Left to raise her 7 children on her own, Mary Florence worked tirelessly to feed and educate her children. She knew that many of her neighbors faced the same challenges she did, so she decided to open up a small home school with three children. Soon thereafter, she heard about Opportunity and received a loan to build a new classroom. With more space, she was able to serve more students — growing her school to serve even more in the community.
Now, Mary Florence is on her tenth loan from Opportunity. She has purchased desks, text books and lab equipment, and has built an entire secondary school facility. Today, Mary Florence's school educates over 500 children in her community.

When given an opportunity, a farmer can show a farmhand how to plant a seed for the first time.
For years, Raquel worked tirelessly on her family's farm in San Jose City, Philippines, barely producing enough to provide for her children. She dreamed of sending her her children to college, but she didn't know how she would afford their educations. Then Raquel was introduced to Opportunity International, and she received a loan to expand and improve her farm.
Today, she grows and sells rice, onions and other vegetables, earning more than ever before. And with additional services from Opportunity, she is saving money in a savings account and protecting her assets with an insurance policy. Thanks to her hard work and support from Opportunity, Raquel's family has a safe and bright future.

When given an opportunity, a woman can open the door to her family business...
A few years ago, Opportunity International provided Luz Maria Atencia with a loan, business training and a savings account. She applied these resources to buy new kitchen equipment for her small food shop near her home in Cartegena, Colombia. With an updated kitchen, Luz Maria was able to make a better product in higher quantities, which boosted her sales. To help meet the increased customer demand, Luz Maria hired 4 neighbors to begin delivering food to the community.
Now the business is a hot spot in the neighborhood, and Maria and all of her employees can provide for their families better than ever before. She has big dreams for the future, and now she has the training and resources she needs to accomplish her goals.
